FAQ

Is Haze good in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
Haze holds a consensus score of 76.4, just above the S-tier cutoff. The score hides a split: Game8 rates Haze A as a main adventurer but S as a squadmate, while TopUpLive, gacha.gg and PlayerAuctions place Haze above A. The sample was collected on 5 November 2026 and is a summary of published opinion, not a measured result.
Should Haze be the lead adventurer or a squadmate?
Game8's own advice is that Haze gains value in a coordinated squad. The kit's buffs, Scarlet Mark and the Waning Moon Charge, apply to the party, and Serpent's Shadow is lost entirely when Haze takes a hit. A player who wants a self-sufficient lead should read the main-team A as the warning it is.
How does Serpent's Shadow work?
Five stacks at 3% each, capped at 15%, and taking damage removes every stack. That makes it a fair-weather buff: useful while you avoid hits, worthless the moment you are caught. This is the clearest reason the rankings disagree about Haze.
Which insight nodes does Haze use?
Game8 does not publish a node list for Haze. gacha.gg does, and it is the only source in our table with the ten nodes and their costs: six at 30 points, two at 10 and two at 5. The whole section on this page is therefore single-source and labelled as such.
How do you unlock Haze?
The sources conflict. gacha.gg says the guild shop for 30 Guild Invitation Coupons, while a second page says 24,000 Guild Emblems and marks the route unconfirmed. We do not state either as fact; check the in-game shop.

Haze is the most interesting S-tier placement in the launch roster, because the letter depends on the question. Game8 rates Haze A as a lead adventurer and S as a squadmate; three other lists put Haze in A, and three rank Haze above it. The 76.4 consensus score clears the S cutoff by 1.4 points, so this is a character whose placement is genuinely contested rather than a settled consensus.

What is Haze in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Haze is an SSR Thunder Support adventurer who fights with Dual Blades. The identity is consistent across Game8 and gacha.gg. The kit is built around Demon and Archdemon mode, a Deflect parry, and party-wide buffs rather than personal damage.

The main-versus-squad split is not a contradiction between sources; it is Game8 publishing two columns and getting two answers. As a lead, Haze’s damage and survival are unremarkable next to Midori or Luka. As a squadmate, the same kit supplies affinity, elemental crit damage and ultimate energy to the rest of the team. Both statements can be true at once.

How do the six published lists grade Haze?

Every grade below is rendered from the same tier data module that powers the adventurer tier list, including Game8’s separate main-team and squadmate columns.

SourceGradePublished / updated
Game8 (main team, squad S)AUpdated 2026-11-03

PlayerAuctionsSPublished 2026-10-30
mobi.ggAPublished 2026-10-28

Six-list consensus: 76.4 out of 100, bucket S, collected 2026-11-04.

The pattern is worth reading carefully. Game8, LDShop and mobi.gg say A. TopUpLive says SS, gacha.gg and PlayerAuctions say S. Game8’s squadmate column also says S. So the disagreement is not noise: the lists that reward team contribution rank Haze higher, and the lists that reward lead-adventurer performance rank Haze lower. The consensus average lands just inside S because four of the six placements are above A.

What does Haze’s buff package actually do?

Game8 and gacha.gg agree on the numbers below. They are party-scaling values published without a formula, so treat each figure as the number the source printed, not as a promise about your squad.

  • Scarlet Mark (ultimate). Applies a mark that adds 6.0% elemental crit damage to allies, lasts 12 seconds, and bursts at 12 hits for 25% extra squad elemental crit damage lasting at least 8 seconds.
  • Waning Moon Charge. Gives the squad 7 ultimate energy (11 when Haze is the main adventurer), plus 15% affinity for 15 seconds, once every 50 seconds.
  • Nocturnal Harvest. Raises squad night-carving speed by 50%. A convenience, not a combat buff.
  • Deflect parry. The defensive tool, and the only way to keep Serpent’s Shadow alive through a fight.

The downside is as important as the buffs. Serpent’s Shadow grants five stacks at 3% each, capped at 15%, and taking damage removes every stack. In a fight you control, it is a permanent buff; in a fight where you get clipped, it is gone. That is the mechanical reason a lead-adventurer ranking can be unimpressed while a squad ranking is not.

The mode loop is Demon into Archdemon, with Circling Chain Slash, Waning Moon Slash and a Crimson Fang Slash combo that ends in a Finisher. Game8 and gacha.gg list the same skills, but neither publishes frame data or a damage number, so there is no rotation maths to give you here.

Which weapon, armour and team does Game8 recommend?

All of this is one editorial source’s recommendation, published on 4 November 2026. gacha.gg shows starter gear only, so it does not offer a second build to compare.

Slot Game8 recommendation
Armour Radiant Kadachi Helm III, Radiant Girros Mail III, Vespoid Vambraces IV, Radiant Girros Coil III, Radiant Kadachi Greaves III
Armour skills listed Counter Boost 4/7 (16% damage for 20 seconds after a Deflect), Fearless 2/7
Visage Radiant Tobi-Kadachi core plus the Ink of Thunder four-piece set, listed as 7% Thunder
Buddy Pheasant (15% Thunder for 10 seconds on a Parry)
Sample party Haze, Luka, the Fated Adventurer (Thunder) and Luxheart

Game8 does not list a weapon for Haze in the same table. Dual Blades sit in the A tier of the weapon tier list, which is a reasonable default but not a source-specific recommendation for this character.

What do Haze’s insight nodes cost?

Single source: gacha.gg. Game8 does not publish a node list for Haze. The ten nodes below follow the same cost structure as the rest of the roster, six at 30 points, two at 10 and two at 5, for a published total of 210. The usual 185-point cap figure applies here too, and the same unresolved tension is explained on the Midori page: the total cost and the cap do not add up unless some insights become free.

Node Cost Listed effect
Thunder Seal Breaker 30 +12% Thunder damage to the monster after the ultimate
Heart of the Shinobi 30 Extends the Crimson Fang mark by 12 seconds
Ghostlight Lantern 30 Waning Moon hits in Demon mode add 5 gauge
Iron Bulwark 30 Parry or Perfect Evade in Archdemon adds 20 gauge
Serpent’s Thunderbite 30 Malicious Fang +100%
Frenzied Demon 30 Archdemon Crimson Fang stacks +1.5% skill damage, max 20, 5 seconds
Power Charge 10 +5% ultimate charge
Hunting Spirit 10 +5% damage
Protection 5 −8% physical damage taken
Harmony 5 +8% resistance

Because this is one source, the exact wording of the 30-point effects may change when Game8 publishes its own list. gacha.gg also leaves several Skill Boost values as placeholders, so do not build a spending plan around the small numbers.

How is Haze obtained?

The sources conflict. gacha.gg says the guild shop for 30 Guild Invitation Coupons; a second page in the same niche says 24,000 Guild Emblems and marks the detail as unconfirmed. We do not state either route as fact. Check the in-game shop before budgeting.

How should you use the consensus?

If you already have Haze, the split tells you where to put the character: a squad slot, not the lead. If you do not, the 76.4 score is not a strong enough signal to chase a contested support early, especially with the acquisition route unconfirmed. A ranking built from published opinion cannot resolve a question the sources themselves disagree on.

The Luka build guide covers the damage dealer in Game8’s sample Haze party, and the adventurer tier list shows the full spread. An aggregator that tracks only three lists leaves Haze unranked because too few of its sources placed her; with six lists there are enough placements to score, which is why source count matters for a contested character.
