Arkaya Build and Team Guide (Monster Hunter Outlanders)

Arkaya is the defensive answer in a roster full of damage dealers: a Dragon Lance support who converts a three-stack gauge into a squad-wide shield. The published rankings put Arkaya in A, with one list at S and one main-team column at B, and the spread is really a disagreement about how much a shield is worth.

What is Arkaya in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Arkaya is an SSR Dragon Support adventurer who uses a Lance. Game8 and gacha.gg agree on the identity and on the core loop: build three Battle Spirit stacks, spend them on Earthrend Finisher, and give the squad 20 Shield.

One terminology note before the numbers. Official Monster Hunter Outlanders channels describe the same gauge as Resolve, while Game8 and gacha.gg both call it Battle Spirit. This page uses Battle Spirit because the build sources do; if you search for Resolve, it is the same resource.

How do the six published lists grade Arkaya?

Every grade below is rendered from the same tier data module that powers the adventurer tier list, including Game8’s separate main-team and squadmate columns.

Six-list consensus: 62.5 out of 100, bucket A, collected 2026-11-04.

PlayerAuctions is the high voice at S, Game8’s main-team column is the low voice at B, and the other four lists settle on A or SS. A defensive kit produces exactly this pattern: a list that values survival ranks Arkaya highly, and a list that asks what the lead adventurer contributes to damage does not.

How does the shield loop work?

Both character pages agree on the mechanics. The Shield numbers are published values with no formula for how much damage one Shield point absorbs, so do not convert 20 Shield into a percentage of your health.

1. Build a stack with Relentless Thrust. Every nine hits grants one Battle Spirit stack.
2. Or build a stack with a parry. Boulder Stance into Perfect Guard leads to Reprisal Finisher and one stack. The Perfect Evade window is listed as 0.5 seconds of invincibility.
3. Spend three stacks on Earthrend Finisher. The finisher consumes all three and grants the squad 20 Shield.
4. Use Battle Spirit Charge for a second source. It grants 7 ultimate energy over 6 seconds, or 11 when Arkaya is the main adventurer, plus 20 Shield, once every 50 seconds.
5. Use Indomitable Oath as the reset. The ultimate grants a shield, 8% affinity for 30 seconds, and three Battle Spirit stacks instantly, so the next Earthrend is ready immediately.

That is a support rotation, not a damage rotation. Driving Assault and the thrust combos exist to generate hits and stacks; the payoff is the squad shield and the affinity window.

gacha.gg adds two traits Game8 does not list: Heart of Justice (+5% attack per basic attack, 10 seconds, max three) and Ancient and Eternal (+35% part break during Dragon Resonance).

Which weapon, armour and team does Game8 recommend?

All of this is one editorial source’s recommendation, published on 4 November 2026.

The party is Dragon-heavy, which fits the armour’s Dragon Damage Up. It is also a sample party rather than a requirement: no source publishes a squad-composition formula, so treat the four names as an illustration.

What do Arkaya’s insight nodes cost?

Game8 and gacha.gg agree on the shared ten-node structure: six at 30 points, two at 10 and two at 5, for a published total of 210. The 185-point cap tension that appears on every character page is explained on the Midori page; this page does not repeat the full argument.

For a support build, Undying Resolve and Ultimate Protection are the two nodes that match the job. Rapid Momentum also matters because faster stack generation means more Earthrend Finishers. The defensive five-point nodes are filler unless you are dying.

The Lance problem, stated plainly

The Lance is the lowest-ranked weapon in our four-list weapon consensus: 0.0, B tier, behind Hammer at 20.8 and every other weapon. That is not a rounding error. The weapon tier list shows the full table, and Arkaya’s A placement does not change it.

Both facts can be true because they measure different things. The weapon ranking asks how good the Lance is as a weapon; Arkaya’s ranking asks how much the adventurer contributes to a squad. A support who grants shields and affinity can be valuable even when the weapon itself is the weakest in the sample. If you dislike the Lance’s defensive rhythm, though, Arkaya will not fix that, and no ranking should talk you into a weapon you do not enjoy.

How should you use the consensus?

Use Arkaya when the squad needs survival and affinity, not when you need damage. The 62.5 score reflects a real spread, not a settled verdict, and the single B is a reminder that not every list values a shield. gacha.gg also says Arkaya is in the Standard Contract pool; no other source in the sample states an acquisition route, so treat that as a single-source report.
